Massara is an original short inspired from the song of the same name "Massara" by Kiyoe Yoshioka (of Ikimono-gakari). The song is Yoshioka's first solo single. The short is directed by Keita Nagahara, and animated by the studio ENISHIYA Inc.
The anime's story centers on a singer-songwriter, Nazuna, who is about to stop chasing her dream, and a very shy girl, Yuna. They meet and influence each other to create their own future.

Where it came from
Massara was released in 2021 as a short-form original net animation produced by the Japanese studio ENISHIYA. The project was conceived as an atmospheric, character-driven piece that prioritizes visual mood and subtle storytelling, characteristic of the independent ONA scene in Japan where smaller studios explore experimental animation styles outside of the traditional long-form television broadcast model.
The production reflects a minimalist aesthetic, focusing on clean character designs and fluid, evocative movement to convey its narrative. Upon its debut, the work was noted for its technical precision and the studio's ability to create a self-contained, emotionally resonant experience within a brief runtime, earning appreciation among animation enthusiasts for its artistic restraint and focus on visual composition.
