Where it came from
Master Blaster refers to the iconic duo from the 1985 post-apocalyptic film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, where the small Master rides atop the physically imposing Blaster to command the city of Bartertown. The characters were designed by Norma Moriceau, who drew inspiration from nomadic aesthetics and industrial scavenged materials to establish the film's distinct visual language, reflecting a world rebuilt from the debris of a collapsed civilization.
The physical embodiment of the characters—often represented in collectibles as a combined figure or a statue—serves as a testament to the film's lasting influence on science fiction costume design. Moriceau’s work earned critical acclaim for its ability to convey the power dynamic of the pair through texture and silhouette alone, solidifying their status as central figures in the legacy of the Mad Max franchise.
