Mama Megami, the mother goddess and ruler of paradise is retiring. Her successor appoints a young mage named Lilith to be one of her guardians. Lilith's first assignment is to recruit two more worthy guardians for the new Mama Megami. Not an easy task, as Stashia, the first candidate on Lilith's short list is not interested. Lilith didn't even have a chance to ask the second person on the list, a warrior named Juliana due to a misunderstanding caused by Stashia's little sister Rurubell. Rurubell wants to be a guardian, but Lilith turned her down due to her very young age and lack of experience. Meanwhile, Paradise is under attack by an evil goddess who wants to dominate it, and it's up to Lilith, Stashia, Rurubell, and Juliana to thwart the attackers.

Where it came from
Megami Paradise was produced by the studio Movic and released as a two-episode original video animation series in 1995. Emerging during the mid-nineties boom of fantasy-themed anime, the project was adapted from a Japanese multimedia franchise that spanned light novels and manga. The series was designed to appeal to fans of lighthearted, magical-girl tropes, placing the protagonist, Lulubell, into a world where she must train to become the next goddess in a society governed by complex magical bureaucracy.
The character designs were handled by the studio’s team, aiming for the vibrant, expressive aesthetic characteristic of the era's comedy-fantasy genre. While the series did not achieve widespread mainstream acclaim, it remains a notable example of the experimental OAV market of the mid-1990s. It was received by contemporary audiences primarily as a niche title for enthusiasts of the magical girl subgenre, known for its emphasis on character-driven humor and whimsical world-building.
