Mei Chuxi De Yinyangshi Yijia

Mei Chuxi De Yinyangshi Yijia, produced by the Green Monster Team, is a representative example of the ONA (Original Net Animation) format that gained significant traction in the Chinese digital animation landscape during the late 2010s. The project emerged during a period of rapid expansion for domestic web-based animation studios, which sought to blend traditional cultural motifs—specifically those related to Taoist mysticism and yinyang dualism—with modern stylistic sensibilities inspired by contemporary character-driven design.

The creative direction of the Green Monster Team focused on accessibility and visual fluidity, prioritizing a lighthearted, episodic structure that appealed to a younger, digitally native audience. By utilizing the ONA format, the production was able to circumvent traditional broadcast limitations, favoring online streaming platforms to reach its viewership. The series was received as a niche but stylistically cohesive entry in the genre, recognized primarily for its attempt to refresh folklore-inspired narratives through a streamlined, web-optimized artistic lens.
