Where it came from
Momentary Lily was produced by the Japanese animation studio GoHands and released in 2025 as a television series. The studio is widely recognized for its distinctive, experimental visual aesthetic, often characterized by unconventional camera angles, vibrant color palettes, and heavy reliance on 3D computer graphics integrated into 2D character designs. This project continues the studio's trajectory of pushing stylistic boundaries within the medium.
The series reflects the studio's ongoing commitment to highly stylized production design, prioritizing visual atmosphere and kinetic motion over traditional animation constraints. By focusing on detailed, stylized environments and reflective textures, the creative team sought to immerse viewers in a specific mood rather than focusing solely on conventional narrative pacing. Upon its release, the project garnered attention for its polarising visual approach, which remains a hallmark of GoHands' modern studio identity.
