Where it came from
Monster Strike the Animation: The Fading Cosmos was released in 2017 as a direct continuation of the expansive multimedia franchise based on the highly popular mobile game developed by Mixi. Produced by Yokohama Animation Lab, this ONA series served to deepen the narrative lore of the game's universe, focusing on the character Ren Homura as he navigates the complex stakes of the Monster Strike world.
The production utilized a digital animation style intended to translate the fast-paced, action-oriented aesthetic of the mobile game into a serialized storytelling format. Critics and fans of the series noted that the animation aimed to provide a more cohesive backstory for the game's monsters, acting as a promotional narrative engine that helped maintain engagement within the franchise's massive Japanese user base.
