Where it came from
Released in 2017 as an original net animation, Monster Strike the Anime's second season continued the multimedia expansion of the popular mobile game developed by Mixi. Produced by Yokohama Animation Lab, this iteration shifted the narrative focus following the conclusion of the initial story arc, aiming to deepen the lore surrounding the game's iconic characters and the distinct battle mechanics that defined the franchise's popularity in Japan.
The animation style and design choices were intended to translate the vibrant, action-oriented aesthetic of the game into a fast-paced episodic format suitable for streaming. The production sought to appeal both to long-time players familiar with the game's roster and to new audiences through improved visual fluidity and character-driven storytelling, ultimately cementing the series as a staple of digital-first anime distribution.
