Morita Mayu, a high school girl. She is extremely reticent and her silence and habit of looking at people's eyes straightly sometimes cause misunderstanding. The reason behind it is not because she doesn’t like to talk nor because she has nothing to say. The reason she rarely speaks is due to the fact she thinks too much before speaking, thus losing the timing to speak altogether. But she lives a happy school life with her classmates.

Where it came from
Morita-san wa Mukuchi, or Morita-san is Silent, originated as a four-panel manga series by Tae Sano before being adapted into an anime television series in 2011. Produced by DAX Production and directed by Naoyuki Kuzuya, the series focuses on the daily life of Mayu Morita, a high school girl whose extreme thoughtfulness often results in long silences that are frequently misinterpreted by her peers.
The adaptation is noted for its unconventional format, consisting of short, episodic installments that mirror the concise structure of the source material. By emphasizing visual humor and subtle character beats over complex plot lines, the creative team aimed to capture the gentle, slice-of-life charm of Sano's work. Upon release, the series was received as a modest, niche entry in the comedy genre, appreciated primarily by fans of understated character-driven animation.
