OVA bundled with the special edition of manga volume 3.
Morita Mayu is a high school girl. She is extremely reticent and her silence and habit of looking at people's eyes straightly sometimes cause misunderstanding. The reason behind it is not because she doesn’t like to talk nor because she has nothing to say. The reason she rarely speaks is due to the fact she thinks too much before speaking, thus losing the timing to speak altogether. Despite this, she lives a happy school life with her classmates.

Where it came from
Morita-san wa Mukuchi, or Morita-san is Silent, originated as a four-panel manga series by Tae Sano, which began serialization in 2007. The narrative centers on Mayu Morita, a high school student whose extreme thoughtfulness and tendency to overanalyze social interactions lead others to mistakenly perceive her as quiet or aloof. The adaptation into a short-form anime series was produced by DAX Production and directed by Naoyuki Kuzuya, aiming to capture the gentle, observational humor of the source material within a compact runtime.
The 2011 OVA project was released alongside the broader anime series to provide a brief, episodic look into Mayu's daily struggles with communication. The design aesthetic sought to translate Sano's clean, minimalist art style into animation, focusing on expressive character reactions that emphasize Mayu's internal monologue against the backdrop of her silent exterior. While the series maintains a niche audience, it remains a notable example of the slice-of-life genre's focus on introverted character dynamics.
