Where it came from
Nagareboshi Lens was produced by studio Kinema Citrus as an OVA adaptation of the popular shojo manga series by Mayu Murata. Released in 2012, the project aimed to translate the series' core themes of adolescent romance and the complex social dynamics of middle school life into an animated format, targeting a demographic familiar with the source material's gentle, emotive tone.
The production sought to capture Murata's signature visual aesthetic, which emphasizes soft character designs and delicate expressions. While the animation style was well-received by fans of the original manga for its faithfulness to the source, the project remains a niche entry in the studio's broader portfolio, standing as a representative example of early 2010s shojo anime production practices.
