NG Knight Lamune & 40 DX

NG Knight Lamune & 40 DX was released in 1993 as a three-part original video animation (OVA) series, serving as a direct sequel to the 1990 television anime series NG Knight Lamune & 40. Produced by Ashi Productions, the project was intended to capitalize on the popularity of the original series' comedic take on the mecha and fantasy genres. It continues the story of Lamune, a young gamer tasked with saving the world of Hara-Hara World, maintaining the show's signature blend of video game-inspired tropes and lighthearted adventure.

The character and mecha designs remained consistent with the aesthetic established in the television series, focusing on bold, toy-like silhouettes that emphasized the show's connection to gaming culture. By the time of this DX release, the franchise had secured a dedicated following among fans of 1990s mecha anime. Critics and viewers generally regarded the OVA as a faithful extension of the source material, though it was ultimately seen as a final, concluding chapter that closed out the specific narrative arc of the original cast.
