Ninja Hattori-kun: Nin Nin Ninpou Enikki no Maki

Ninja Hattori-kun: Nin Nin Ninpou Enikki no Maki was released in 1982 as the first feature film adaptation of Fujiko A. Fujio's beloved manga series. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation during the height of the franchise's popularity, the film brought the comedic adventures of the young ninja, Hattori Kanzo, and his life with the Mitsuba family to the big screen. It was designed to capitalize on the success of the television anime series that had begun airing the previous year, serving as a family-friendly bridge between the episodic broadcasts.

The film maintains the signature visual style established by the television production, emphasizing the juxtaposition of traditional shinobi techniques with modern suburban life. Fujiko A. Fujio's character designs remained central to the animation, balancing Hattori's stoic professionalism with the chaotic humor characteristic of the manga. Upon its release, the film was well-received by audiences, solidifying Ninja Hattori-kun as a cultural staple in early 1980s Japan and setting the precedent for a subsequent string of theatrical releases for the series.
