Where it came from
Noon is an interactive digital experience released in 2021 by the studio ona, designed as a meditative, browser-based exploration of light, shadow, and perception. It emerged from a period of growing interest in minimalist, web-native art that prioritizes atmosphere over traditional game mechanics, serving as a contemplative digital space that encourages the user to slow down and observe the passage of time within a simulated environment.
The design of Noon focuses on a stark, monochromatic aesthetic that relies on subtle shifts in geometry and luminosity to convey its themes. Created with a refined approach to browser-based rendering, the piece was received by the design and digital art community as a successful exercise in web-based storytelling, often praised for its technical restraint and the way it elevates mundane digital interactions into an experience of quiet reflection.
