ONE: Kagayaku Kisetsu e - True Stories

ONE: Kagayaku Kisetsu e - True Stories is a four-part original video animation series released in 2003 by Studio ARMS. The project serves as an adaptation of the influential visual novel developed by Tactics, which is widely recognized for establishing many of the narrative tropes found in the emotional storytelling subgenre of early 2000s anime. Coming out of the peak period of visual novel adaptations, the OVA sought to condense the complex, branching paths of the original game into a more linear, character-driven format.

The production design reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the era, focusing on the melancholic and ethereal atmosphere inherent to the source material. While the original game was known for its distinct character designs, the animation team at ARMS aimed to translate these into a consistent visual language suitable for the screen. Upon its release, the series was received primarily by the existing fan base of the game, serving as a nostalgic companion piece that emphasized the dramatic interpersonal connections central to the franchise's identity.
