Onegai My Melody: Kuru Kuru Shuffle!

Onegai My Melody: Kuru Kuru Shuffle! was produced by Studio Comet and released in 2006 as the second installment in the Sanrio-produced anime series based on the character My Melody. This season continued the magical girl narrative established in the original series, introducing the character Kuromi and her sidekick Baku as central antagonists who utilize dark magic to disrupt the daily lives of the inhabitants of Mary Land and the human world. The series aimed to expand the franchise's reach by blending Sanrio's trademark whimsical aesthetic with traditional shojo magical girl tropes.

The character designs were overseen by Sanrio, building upon the established visual identity of My Melody, who debuted in 1975. The show was produced to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the character among young children and collectors, utilizing a vibrant, pastel-heavy palette intended to evoke a sense of playfulness and innocence. Upon its release, the series was well-received within its target demographic in Japan, effectively maintaining the relevance of the brand while successfully integrating new characters that have since become significant components of the broader Sanrio catalog.
