The story revolves around Tomoya Mizuhara, a 13-year-old boy who suddenly gains a big sister when his father remarries. 17-year-old Ichika is a little strange, and her affection for Tomoya is rather overwhelming, if not scary. On top of things, Ichika's friend Ruri is the ultimate sadist. Then there is Ichika's big-breasted quarter-Japanese friend Marina.

Where it came from
Onee-chan ga Kita, known in English as My Big Sister is Among Them!, originated as a four-panel comedy manga series by Rikose. The television anime adaptation was produced by studio C2C and aired in early 2014, capturing the lighthearted and often chaotic domestic dynamics of a newly blended family. It emerged during a period of rising interest in short-form anime series, which were designed to fit into smaller broadcast windows while maintaining a punchy, comedic rhythm.
The animation direction sought to translate the manga's expressive, slapstick style into a fluid screen format. The production focused on the central premise of Ichika’s overbearing affection for her younger stepbrother, Tomoya, utilizing a character-driven approach common to the slice-of-life genre. While the series was viewed as a niche entry in the seasonal lineup, it served as an early showcase for C2C's ability to handle rapid-fire humor and character-centric storytelling within a compact production scope.
