Where it came from
Origami Warriors, also known as Zhe Zhi Zhan Shi, is an animated television series produced by the Taiwanese studio SBS TV Production. First released in the early 2010s, the series was designed to blend traditional paper-folding art with high-fantasy combat themes, targeting a younger demographic by reimagining origami as a source of mystical power and robotic transformation.
The character and visual design choices were heavily influenced by the popular mecha and collectible-creature genres that dominated children's programming at the time. While the series sought to differentiate itself through its unique paper-based aesthetic, it received a modest reception, primarily finding its audience within East Asian markets where it became a noted example of regional animation efforts to compete with larger international franchises.
