Oshiri Tantei: Saraba Itoshiki Oshiri yo

Oshiri Tantei: Saraba Itoshiki Oshiri yo, or 'Farewell, My Beloved Bottom,' serves as a cinematic expansion of the popular children's book series created by Troll. The franchise, which features a detective with a face shaped like buttocks, debuted in 2012 and grew into a massive multimedia phenomenon in Japan, characterized by its playful, irreverent humor and mystery-solving mechanics that encourage interactive engagement from its young audience.

Produced by Toei Animation, the film was designed to elevate the familiar episodic television format into a feature-length investigation. The animation retains the clean, bright aesthetic of the original picture books while scaling up the visual stakes to suit a theatrical release. Upon its 2024 debut, it was received as a milestone for the franchise, successfully translating the charm of the print editions into a narrative that balances slapstick comedy with the character’s signature deductive flair.
