Overlord: Ple Ple Pleiades 4

Overlord: Ple Ple Pleiades 4 is a short-form original net animation series released in 2022, serving as a comedic spin-off from the darker, high-fantasy Overlord anime franchise. Produced by Studio PuYUKAI under the direction of Minoru Ashina, the series was designed to provide a lighthearted look at the daily lives of the Pleiades battle maids within the Great Tomb of Nazarick. The production was intended to capitalize on the popularity of the main series by offering a whimsical, chibi-style aesthetic that contrasts sharply with the source material's mature themes.

The series draws heavily from the established character archetypes of the Overlord universe, using the 'super-deformed' art style synonymous with Studio PuYUKAI's work on other light novel adaptations. By focusing on mundane mishaps and humorous interactions between subordinates, the project aimed to deepen fan engagement with the franchise's extensive cast. Upon its release, it was well-received by the existing fanbase as a charming supplement that successfully maintained the personality of the characters while adopting a format better suited for casual, episodic consumption.
