Where it came from
Paboo & Mojies premiered in 2012 as an ambitious international co-production between the South Korean studio Dongwoo Animation and the Canadian production house Nerd Corps Entertainment. The series was designed as a preschool-targeted educational program, focusing on the adventures of a young boy named Paboo and his colorful, shape-shifting creature companions known as Mojies. The show utilized a distinct 3D animation style intended to translate complex abstract concepts into accessible visual puzzles for young viewers.
The creative direction for the series prioritized character-driven storytelling, with the Mojies serving as personifications of shapes and patterns that helped solve narrative challenges. While the collaboration brought together significant technical expertise from both the Korean and Canadian animation industries, the show experienced a relatively niche release profile compared to larger global franchises, often remembered by industry analysts as a notable example of the early 2010s push for cross-cultural children's programming.
