Peut-être toi

Peut-être toi was released in 2006 as a music video for the song of the same name by French singer Mylène Farmer. Produced by the acclaimed Japanese animation studio Production I.G, the project was directed by animation veteran Kazuya Tsurumaki. The collaboration sought to marry contemporary J-pop aesthetics with the gothic, cinematic sensibilities prevalent in Farmer's body of work, resulting in a distinct visual narrative that functions as an independent short film.

The character design and animation style prioritize a fluid, melancholy atmosphere, reflecting Tsurumaki’s signature approach to character introspection and stylized movement. The piece was well-received by fans of both the singer and the studio, noted for its high production values and the seamless integration of traditional hand-drawn techniques with digital post-processing. It remains a notable example of the cultural cross-pollination between French musical performance and Japanese animation studios during the mid-2000s.
