Where it came from
Released in 2009 by studio Bee Train, this picture drama served as a special supplement to the Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom anime series. The project was designed to expand upon the psychological depth of the original visual novel created by Nitroplus, offering fans a narrative bridge that explored the internal states of the lead characters, Ein and Zwei, during the periods between major plot points.
The production utilized a minimalist, atmospheric visual style that prioritized stark compositions and lighting to mirror the show's dark themes of espionage and identity. Directed by Koichi Mashimo, the project sought to refine the tone established by the television series, emphasizing a contemplative pace that was well-received by devotees of the franchise who valued the deeper character study provided by the additional visual storytelling.
