Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: The Great Rescue

Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: The Great Rescue was released in 2011 as the third feature-length film in the long-running Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf franchise. Created by Creative Power Entertaining, the series originated in 2005 and became a cultural phenomenon in China, centered on the clever protagonist Pleasant Goat and his ongoing conflict with the bumbling antagonist, Big Big Wolf. This specific installment was crafted to capitalize on the success of the television series, shifting the characters into a high-stakes rescue narrative designed to appeal to both children and family audiences during the busy Chinese New Year film season.

The production sought to expand the visual scope of the franchise, utilizing 3D animation techniques that were increasingly becoming the standard for major domestic animation studios at the time. Directed by Lin Yongchang, the film focused on themes of cooperation and friendship, adhering to the wholesome, moral-centric storytelling that defined the brand's early dominance in Chinese animation. Upon its release, the film was noted for its significant box office performance, reflecting the immense popularity of the characters and cementing the series' position as a staple of Chinese popular culture throughout the early 2010s.
