Where it came from
Released in 2019, this special promotional short film was a collaborative project between the beverage brand Pocari Sweat and the popular anime series Cells at Work! (Hataraku Saibou). Produced by studio David Production, the film was designed to educate the public on the physiological dangers of heatstroke and the efficacy of electrolyte replenishment, serving as both an entertainment piece and a public health campaign.
The animation maintains the distinct visual identity of the original series, featuring the personified cells navigating a human body during a summer heatwave. By integrating the product directly into the narrative of cellular survival, the creators aimed to make medical information accessible and engaging. The short was well-received by fans of the franchise for its seamless blend of branded marketing and the series' signature educational approach to biology.
