Where it came from
Poccolies was produced in 2020 by Kachidoki Studio, a Japanese animation house known for its focus on short-form, often experimental or niche children's programming. The series emerged as a character-driven property designed to appeal to younger audiences through a simplified aesthetic and repetitive, rhythmic storytelling that is common in Japanese television interstitials. It represents the studio's broader commitment to producing accessible digital animation that balances educational or gentle themes with bright, minimalist visual design.
The creative direction of the series leans heavily on contemporary digital puppetry, prioritizing expressive movement and vibrant color palettes over complex world-building. As a low-budget, high-frequency television project, it was intended to serve as a calming or engaging distraction within broader programming blocks. While the series did not garner significant mainstream critical appraisal, it reflects the ongoing industry trend of creating brief, hyper-focused animation content designed for streaming and cable rotation.
