In the city of Minato Mirai in Yokohama, the news of Fusion's defeat by the Pretty Cures is the hottest topic in town! Girls everywhere are dressing up and acting as their favorite Cures. Only Sakagami Ayumi, the new transfer student, is alone by herself.
On her way home from school, Ayumi encounters a strange creature. After naming it Fu-Chan, Ayumi and the creature soon become good friends. However, Fu-Chan is actually a piece of Fusion, and holds the power of darkness. In an effort to make Ayumi happy, Fu-chan swallows up everything that Ayumi dislikes, creating chaos in school and throughout the city!
To help bring across Ayumi's true feelings to Fu-Chan, all 28 Pretty Cures gather once more. When everyone's power comes together, a miraculous light starts to shine.

Where it came from
Precure All Stars New Stage: Mirai no Tomodachi was released in 2012 as the fourth installment in the crossover film series produced by Toei Animation. Created to celebrate the ongoing success of the long-running Pretty Cure franchise, this film marked a significant structural shift for the series. Unlike its predecessors, which focused on a massive battle involving every single character, this entry introduced a more focused narrative that integrated the newest cast from Smile Precure with the team from Suite Precure, centering the plot on a newcomer named Ayumi Sakagami.
The film was directed by Junji Shimizu, who aimed to emphasize themes of friendship and the emotional bonds between children and their imaginary companions. By shifting away from the spectacle of pure combat, the production team sought to explore the core identity of the franchise and its impact on its young audience. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans for its character-driven approach, serving as a template for the subsequent New Stage trilogy that prioritized emotional storytelling over the cumulative roster sizes that had characterized earlier crossover films.
