Where it came from
Rainy Cocoa Series Ame-con!!, released in 2017, represents the fourth season in the niche anime franchise Rainy Cocoa. The series originated from a digital manga app, eventually expanding into a multimedia project centered around a coffee shop setting. This specific iteration was produced by EMT Squared, maintaining the franchise's established tone of low-stakes, slice-of-life storytelling that focuses on the daily interactions between staff and customers at the Rainy Color café.
The animation style and narrative direction for the Rainy Cocoa series generally prioritize brevity and a gentle atmosphere over complex plotting. The design choices, led by the creative teams at EMT Squared, aim to emphasize character-driven moments within a confined, cozy environment. As with its predecessors, the season was received primarily by a dedicated, niche audience appreciative of its relaxed pace and recurring cast, serving as a continuation of the brand's exploration of suburban Japanese life.
