Rakuen Tsuihou: Kokoro no Resonance

Rakuen Tsuihou: Kokoro no Resonance, or Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart, serves as the long-awaited follow-up to the 2014 cult science fiction hit Expelled from Paradise. Produced by Toei Animation, the film continues the narrative exploration of a digital humanity living in the space station DEVA while maintaining the series' signature blend of high-concept cyberpunk themes and cel-shaded 3D character animation. The project was developed to expand upon the philosophical questions regarding physical existence and artificial intelligence introduced in the original feature.

The creative direction retains the collaborative spirit of the original, with core members of the production staff returning to maintain visual and thematic continuity. The design philosophy centers on the aesthetic established by character designer Masatsugu Saito, who sought to refine the clean, futuristic look of the franchise's protagonists while utilizing modern animation techniques to improve fluidity in the film's action sequences. Upon its release, the film was noted by critics for its adherence to the distinct visual style that originally defined the series' success in the mid-2010s.
