Where it came from
Renzoku Liella Shousetsu: Ren-chan was released in 2022 as a series of short-form original net animations (ONA) centered on Ren Hazuki, a primary character from the multimedia project Love Live! Superstar!!. This series was developed to complement the second season of the main anime, functioning as a lighthearted, slice-of-life companion piece that explores the daily idiosyncrasies and personality quirks of the characters outside of their primary narrative arcs.
The animation utilizes a simplified, whimsical aesthetic that diverges from the standard production quality of the mainline series to emphasize character charm and comedic timing. Designed by the production team at Bandai Namco Filmworks, the series aims to deepen fan engagement with the Liella! idol group by providing supplemental character background. Upon its digital release, it was well-received by the existing fanbase for its accessibility and its successful expansion of the franchise's world-building through short, digestible segments.
