Ruguo Lishi Shi Yi Qun Miao 3

Ruguo Lishi Shi Yi Qun Miao, often translated as If History Were a Bunch of Cats, originated as a webcomic series that gained significant traction on Chinese social media platforms. Created by the artist Feitianyemao, the work reimagines pivotal historical events and figures from Chinese history by depicting the primary actors as distinctively characterized cats. The series was adapted into an ONA (Original Net Animation) series by Fatchi Moxie Studio, which sought to translate the comic's satirical and educational blend into a lively, short-form animated format.

The design philosophy behind the animation focuses on balancing historical accuracy with whimsical, accessible character archetypes. By assigning feline traits to historical emperors, scholars, and officials, the production aims to make dense historical narratives approachable for younger audiences while maintaining a witty subtext for history enthusiasts. Upon its release, the animation was well-received for its unique visual style and its ability to condense complex dynastic transitions into digestible, humorous episodes.
