Soon the guardian angels on Earth begin disappearing, and no one in Heaven can explain the happenings. But there is a sense of a vengeful animal spirit at work, and so the four Saint Beasts are called upon to investigate.

Where it came from
Saint Beast: Seijuu Kourin-hen was released in 2003 as an anime television series derived from a popular drama CD franchise produced by Lantis. It emerged during a period when audio dramas were frequently being adapted into visual media to capitalize on the popularity of their voice casts, who were often marketed as idols within the industry.
The character designs were conceptualized to reflect a mythologically inspired aesthetic, focusing on an angelic hierarchy that leaned heavily into the bishounen archetype. While the series was received primarily by a niche demographic interested in character-driven narratives and the established voice talent, it serves as a distinct example of early 2000s multimedia franchising in the Japanese anime market.
