The setting is a Japanese looking village named `Little Tokyo' where the Pizza Cats run a pizza fastfood business. Little Tokyo is populated by all kinds of animals. The official governor of the town is the Emperor, but since he has gone bananas a council takes care of the well-being of the village. One of the members of this council is called Seymour "Big" Cheese, who secretly wishes to take over control of the village. The pizza take away restaurant is merely a cover for their true job... Whenever evil is afoot, the Pizza Cats are launched towards the danger from the gun-lookalike clock tower that emerges from the top of their restaurant.

Where it came from
Samurai Pizza Cats, known in Japan as Kyatto Ninden Teyandee, was produced by Tatsunoko Production and animated by Studio Shaft in 1990. The series was created as a satire of the super sentai and mecha genres popular at the time, utilizing a chaotic, self-aware narrative style that frequently broke the fourth wall. Its production was characterized by extreme budgetary constraints, leading the creative team to repurpose existing stock footage and embrace a manic, improvisational approach to storytelling.
The series design is credited to the creative teams at Tatsunoko, who leaned into an absurd aesthetic where anthropomorphic cats serve as both pizza delivery workers and mechanized defenders of Little Tokyo. When the series was licensed for international distribution in the early 1990s, the English-language version famously featured a heavily rewritten script that diverged significantly from the original Japanese dialogue, ultimately becoming a cult classic for its irreverent humor and unconventional production history.
