Seer 2 Da Dianying: Leiyi Yu Maiersi

Seer 2: Da Dianying, released in 2012, is the second feature film based on the popular Chinese online virtual world for children, Seer. Produced by Taomee, the studio aimed to expand the brand's reach from browser-based gaming to the silver screen, capitalizing on the immense popularity of its digital mascot, Seer. This installment, subtitled Leiyi Yu Maiersi, centers on the characters 雷伊 (Leiyi) and 迈尔斯 (Maiersi), integrating the game's core themes of exploration and adventure into a narrative structure intended for a younger demographic.

The production sought to maintain the visual continuity of the online game while elevating the animation quality for theatrical exhibition. The design philosophy focused on high-contrast, vibrant aesthetics that would feel familiar to the existing player base, prioritizing clear character silhouettes and expressive facial animation. Upon release, the film was received primarily as a commercial product for the franchise’s dedicated audience, serving to solidify the narrative lore of the Seer universe while demonstrating the success of transmedia storytelling within the Chinese children's entertainment market.
