Puberty is a time when many become interested in the opposite sex for the first time, but Kasuga is hit more than most. She becomes so obsessed with thoughts of penises and balls that her grades are affected. Thus, when her childhood friend, Kobayashi, bets her that he will have a higher score on the next test, with the winner being able to request anything from the other, she sees her opportunity to witness male genitalia in the real world.

Where it came from
Sex Studies was produced by the studio Mary Jane and released in 2021 as an original video animation (OVA). This work emerged from the niche industry of adult-oriented Japanese animation, which frequently adapts established character tropes and thematic premises to cater to a dedicated domestic and international fan base. The production follows the studio's broader commitment to serialized adult content, focusing on the development of specific narrative dynamics within a short-form episodic structure.
The design and artistic direction for this project were guided by the studio's house style, prioritizing recognizable character archetypes and polished line work typical of contemporary digital animation. Like many entries in the Mary Jane catalog, the OVA was crafted to resonate with viewers familiar with specific genre conventions, emphasizing visual appeal and consistent character design. Upon release, it was distributed primarily through digital platforms and specialized retailers, reaching its audience as a standalone title within the studio's expansive library.
