Where it came from
Shinjuku Shin-chan Patrol: Warui Otona ni Ki wo Tsukete was produced in 2008 as a public service announcement ONA (Original Net Animation) commissioned by the Shinjuku Ward office. The project aimed to utilize the immense popularity of the Crayon Shin-chan franchise to educate local children and their families on safety awareness, specifically cautioning them about potential dangers posed by suspicious strangers in the busy Shinjuku district.
The animation features the character Shinnosuke Nohara, designed by the late Yoshito Usui. Staying true to the distinct, minimalist visual style established in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan television series, the short emphasizes clear, accessible messaging appropriate for its intended youthful audience. While it served a civic rather than entertainment purpose, it was well-received as a creative and effective method for local government to engage with residents on public safety issues.
