Sinbad the Sailor

Arabian Nights: Sinbad no Bōken, known internationally as Sinbad the Sailor, was produced by Nippon Animation in 1975 as part of the studio's early push into adapting classic world literature for global television audiences. Drawing directly from the One Thousand and One Nights, the series sought to capture the sense of wonder and epic adventure inherent in the original folklore, positioning itself as a high-quality educational and entertainment program for children.

The character design was spearheaded by Shuichi Seki, who utilized a clean, expressive aesthetic that became a hallmark of the studio's World Masterpiece Theater-adjacent productions.
