Sore Ike! Anpanman: Sukue! Kokorin to Kiseki no Hoshi

Sore Ike! Anpanman: Sukue! Kokorin to Kiseki no Hoshi, released in 2011, is the twenty-third feature film in the long-running animated series based on the children’s books by Takashi Yanase. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, the film follows the established tradition of releasing an annual Anpanman movie that debuted alongside the television series in 1988. This entry was created to introduce new characters and themes while maintaining the gentle, altruistic moral lessons that have made Anpanman a cultural cornerstone in Japan for decades.

The film was directed by Hiroyuki Yahagi, who worked within the aesthetic framework established by Yanase’s simple, iconic character designs. The narrative centers on a small star-creature named Kokorin, exploring themes of courage and self-sacrifice that are signature to the franchise. Upon its release, the film was received as a standard but heartwarming installment in the series, appreciated by its target demographic of young children and their parents for its consistent message of kindness and its focus on the importance of helping others.
