Sore Ike! Anpanman: Yakisobapanman to Black Sabotenman

Released in July 2000, Sore Ike! Anpanman: Yakisobapanman to Black Sabotenman is the twelfth feature-length film in the long-running Anpanman animated series. Produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, the film follows the established formula of the franchise, which began as a picture book series by Takashi Yanase in 1973. The narrative centers on the hero Anpanman and his allies defending their community against recurring antagonist Baikinman, maintaining the gentle, moralistic storytelling that made the character a cultural staple in Japan.

The production design adheres to the bright, rounded aesthetic developed by TMS Entertainment to transition Yanase's simple illustrations into dynamic animation. These films are typically released annually alongside a short film, serving as a summer event for families. As with the broader filmography of the series, this entry was directed by the animation team at TMS to prioritize accessibility for young children, focusing on themes of kindness and self-sacrifice that have defined the Anpanman universe for decades.
