Stardust Telepath

Stardust Telepath, known in Japan as Hoshikuzu Telepath, was produced by Studio Gokumi and premiered in 2023. The series is based on the four-panel manga by Rasuko Okuma, which began serialization in 2019. The narrative follows Umika Konohoshi, a high school student with a paralyzing fear of communication, and her encounter with a transfer student who claims to be an alien, exploring themes of social anxiety and the pursuit of connection through the unconventional hobby of rocket building.

The adaptation was directed by Kaori, who focused on capturing the delicate emotional interiority of the protagonist while balancing the whimsical, science-fiction-inspired elements of the source material. The series was well-regarded by viewers for its distinct visual style and its gentle approach to character development, successfully translating the intimate feel of the original manga into an animated medium that emphasizes the characters' shared journey of self-discovery.
