A war is being fought between the goddesses of dark and light. While the former try to steal the jewels from innocent women, leaving lifeless husks, the latter hunt the evildoers. Both types of goddesses are equipped with powers to fight, but their strongest weapons are their retractable penises—flooding the enemy with pleasure is the only sure-fire way to win.

Where it came from
Released in 2011 by the animation studio Zyc, STAR☆jewel originated during a period of experimentation within the independent anime market. The project was conceived as a short-form original video animation, or OVA, intended to showcase the studio's aesthetic approach to the magical girl genre. By focusing on a self-contained narrative, Zyc aimed to create a visually distinct experience that leaned into soft, ethereal character designs and a whimsical atmosphere rather than a complex, multi-arc serialization.
The creative direction for STAR☆jewel emphasized high-contrast color palettes and stylized, expressive character work to distinguish the title within the crowded landscape of 2010s digital-native animation. Upon its release, it was noted primarily by niche enthusiasts and collectors of boutique studio works for its concise, experimental structure. It remains a representative example of how smaller studios utilized the OVA format during this era to maintain creative control while exploring specific thematic motifs without the pressure of long-running broadcast commitments.
