Where it came from
Take My Brother Away! 2 was released in 2018 as the sequel to the original Chinese animated series based on the popular webcomic by You Ling. Produced by Fanworks, the series continues the comedic exploration of the daily friction between a mischief-making older brother, Shi Fen, and his younger sister, Shi Miao. It arrived during a period of growing international interest in Chinese animation, aiming to capture the chaotic yet affectionate dynamic of teenage sibling relationships through a mix of slapstick humor and heartfelt moments.
The animation style retains the vibrant, expressive aesthetic established in the first season, focusing on fluid character reactions that heighten the comedic timing of the original webcomic. The production team sought to balance the frenetic pace of the skits with character-driven development, grounding the absurdity of the siblings' lives in relatable domestic frustration. Upon its release, the series was well-received by audiences familiar with the source material for maintaining the spirit of the comic while effectively utilizing the ONA format to deliver short, punchy episodes.
