Music is the light that illuminates people's hearts-- and that "light" was suddenly taken from the world. The world changed the night the black "Kuroya Meteorite" fell. Grotesque monsters known as D2 emerged from the meteorite and began to overrun the land and people. As the D2 were drawn to melodies people played, eventually "music" itself became taboo.
However, those who opposed the monsters appeared. They the "Musicart," girls who draw power from music. They possess the great operas and musical scores of humanity history and use them to defeat the D2.

Where it came from
Takt Op.Destiny emerged in 2021 as a central component of the broader Takt Op. multimedia project, a collaboration between Bandai Namco Arts and DeNA. The series was conceived to explore a world where music has been banned by alien creatures known as D2s, with human protectors called Musicarts fighting back using the power of classical compositions. The project was designed as a cross-media bridge, intended to synchronize narrative elements between the anime adaptation and a companion mobile game.
The production brought together studio MAPPA and Madhouse to handle the animation, aiming for a high-fidelity visual aesthetic that emphasized fluid combat sequences and character-driven drama. The series was directed by Yuki Ito, who focused on balancing the intense action sequences with the emotional weight of the protagonists' relationships. Upon its release, it was noted for its ambitious visual storytelling and its unique premise of personifying classical music, finding a dedicated audience among viewers who appreciated its distinctive artistic direction.
