Where it came from
Takunomi, or Drinking at Home, was adapted into an anime television series in 2018 by Production IMS. Based on the four-panel manga by Haruto Hino, the series follows Michiru Amatsuki, a young woman who moves to Tokyo for work and discovers the joys of sharing local alcoholic beverages with her roommates in a female-only share house.
The animation design focuses on a slice-of-life aesthetic, emphasizing the specific details of different beers, wines, and spirits as a central narrative device. Production IMS aimed to create a relaxing, informative atmosphere, with each episode concluding with a segment that highlights real-world alcohol brands, which earned the show a reputation as a niche guide for viewers interested in Japanese drinking culture.
