Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar

Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar, also known as Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, was produced by AIC and AIC Spirits as a 13-episode original video animation series released between 2009 and 2010. It serves as a spin-off of the long-running Tenchi Muyo! franchise, though it adopts a distinct aesthetic and narrative tone that separates it from the core continuity. The project was conceived to explore the life of Kenshi Masaki, the younger half-brother of the original series protagonist, as he is transported to a world dominated by mecha combat and political intrigue.

The series was directed by Koji Yoshikawa, who worked to balance high-stakes action sequences with the character-driven humor typical of the franchise. The character designs were handled by Hajime Watanabe, who aimed to modernize the look of the series while maintaining the familiar, soft visual appeal fans of the studio’s work expected. Upon its release, the OVA was well-received for its high production values and its ability to function as a standalone epic, successfully expanding the Tenchi universe into a more traditional fantasy-adventure setting.
