Where it came from
Ten Count, an animated adaptation of the popular boys' love manga series by Rihito Takarai, was produced by East Fish Studio and SynergySP. The series follows the complex, psychological relationship between a secretary with mysophobia and a clinical psychologist, exploring themes of healing and personal growth. The production aimed to translate Takarai’s distinctive, delicate art style into a visual medium, focusing on the intimate character dynamics that defined the original print work.
Upon its release, the adaptation garnered significant attention from the established fanbase of the source material. It was designed to cater to those familiar with the manga’s specific blend of romantic tension and psychological exploration. While the visual direction received praise for maintaining the aesthetic fidelity of Takarai's illustrations, the project was noted for the inherent challenges of adapting a character-driven, internal narrative into a traditional episodic format.
