Where it came from
Released in 2011, Tennis no Ouji-sama OVA ANOTHER STORY II: Anotoki no Bokura serves as a supplemental entry in the long-running Prince of Tennis franchise. Produced by Production I.G, these specials were crafted to expand upon the backstories of secondary characters, providing fans with deeper insight into the team dynamics and personal histories that preceded the main tournament arcs.
The animation reflects the high-energy, stylized aesthetic that defined the series during the transition between the original run and the New Prince of Tennis era. Directed with a focus on character-driven narratives, the specials were well-received by the dedicated community for their ability to balance comedic character interactions with the sport-centric drama that characterized the broader franchise, solidifying the series' enduring appeal during a period of transition for its production staff.
