Tennis no Ouji-sama: Zenkoku Taikai-hen

Tennis no Ouji-sama: Zenkoku Taikai-hen, or The Prince of Tennis: National Tournament, was released starting in 2006 as a direct-to-video follow-up to the long-running television anime series. Produced by Production I.G, the series was created to adapt the climactic final arc of Takeshi Konomi’s original manga, which had concluded its television run prior to the characters reaching the national-level competition. This transition to the OVA format allowed the studio to focus on high-fidelity animation sequences, capturing the increasingly supernatural intensity of the sport as depicted in the source material.

The production sought to maintain the visual energy established by the earlier series while refining the character designs for a more mature, cinematic presentation.
