Where it came from
The Best!! Extremely Cool Student Council President, known in Japan as Seitokai no Ichizon, originated as a light novel series penned by Sekina Aoi and illustrated by Kira Inugami. Published by Fujimi Shobo, the series gained popularity for its meta-fictional approach, satire of high school anime tropes, and the dialogue-heavy interactions between the members of the Hekiyou Academy student council.
The 2009 television adaptation was produced by Studio Deen and aired on TV Tokyo. The production sought to capture the self-aware, comedic rhythm of the source material by focusing heavily on the distinct personalities and interpersonal dynamics of the five main characters. Upon its release, it was noted for its departure from traditional school-life dramas, leaning instead into fourth-wall-breaking humor and fan-service elements typical of the late 2000s light novel boom.
