The Best!! Extremely Cool Student Council President Second Collection

The Best!! Extremely Cool Student Council President, or Kaicho wa Maid-sama!, debuted as a television anime series in 2010, produced by J.C.Staff and broadcast on TBS and various affiliate stations including those associated with TV Tokyo. The series serves as an adaptation of the shojo manga by Hiro Fujiwara, which chronicles the life of Misaki Ayuzawa, a diligent student council president who secretly works at a maid café to support her family. The adaptation was directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, who sought to balance the comedic elements of the original manga with the evolving romantic tension between the protagonists.

The production is recognized for its shift in visual tone, contrasting the rigid, authoritative environment of Seika High School with the vibrant, theatrical atmosphere of the café. Upon its release, the series became a notable entry in the late-2000s shojo boom, praised for its character-driven narrative and the chemistry between the leads. While the series maintains a dedicated following among anime enthusiasts, it is historically situated as a representative example of the romantic comedy genre as it was adapted for television during the height of the digital animation transition in Japan.
