The IDOLM@STER Million Live!: The Backstage

The IDOLM@STER Million Live!: The Backstage was released in 2024 as a special direct-to-video production accompanying the broader Million Live! multimedia project. Produced by Shirogumi, the studio behind the high-quality 3D animation style utilized in the series, the project was created to provide fans with an intimate look at the off-stage dynamics of the 765 Pro Allstars and the Million Stars. It reflects the franchise's ongoing efforts to deepen character lore beyond the standard song-and-dance rhythm game format.

The design and animation approach aimed to capture the signature expressive character modeling that fans have come to associate with the series' recent televised iterations. By focusing on the candid, unscripted moments of the idols, Shirogumi aimed to bridge the gap between polished stage performances and the domestic, everyday personas of the cast. The reception within the community has been largely positive, praised for its technical fluidity and its commitment to the established personality traits of the expansive idol roster.
